Media includes; floppy disks (still), CDs, DVDs and hard drives. Hard drives in an internet server, a networked server or the end user's computer.

Media can load content onto 3 types of computers. PC, Macintosh and Unix. All three have different operating systems. Windows for PC, Macintosh for Macintosh and Linux for Unix. There are other operating systems available, such as IBM's OS for PCs. Each OS has different versions. Macintoshes are up to V 10. Content for V 9 will not work on a Mac running V 10.

Then there are many file types. Email is one file type. Images are different. There are more then 30 image types. Code and video are others still.

Computer content is created on media for a particular computer, running a specific OS, handling certain file types in certain formats.
